1. LOEB / ELENA
When asked about the changing fortunes in Citroen’s reliability between this year and last year, Sebastian said:
Yes, it’s a question of being lucky or not; the damper that broke yesterday was the same specification as last year. The head gasket that failed in Sweden was also the same as last year, but we have a revised one here. Maybe our sump guard is not so strong, however.
2. DUVAL / PREVOT
I shall just drive round slowly and try to finish.
Note: It is understood that there is a possibility that the Citroen’s cylinder block is cracked.
5. SOLBERG / MILLS
Today I’m just going to try and control it and not take any risks, although I took no risks yesterday. I didn’t have the feeling for the balance of the new car on the first day but things are good now.
6. ATKINSON / MACNEALL
Hopefully I’ll find a better set-up today, but still, it’s been a good rally; on some sections I’ve been 100%. Yesterday, it was really two incidents; the power steering failed first, then I cleared the rock that was the cause of the second incident and the damage occurred afterwards.
7. GRONHÖLM / RAUTIAINEN
I intend to stay in second place. The team has fitted Brembo brake discs of a different specification for today.
9. ROVANPERÄ / PIETILÄINEN
Today, we have four cylinders and that’s OK! I am a little concerned that we get the car’s set-up right for New Zealand.
11. SCHWARZ / WICHA
It is difficult to see here the improvements in the new engine because of the altitude. You can see stability improvements in the fast stuff, however. I am happy with the car but not so happy with myself because of the experience of this rally.
18. TRIVIÑO / DEL BARRIO
Yesterday, we had a gearbox failure. But under the new regulations, we’re still running, and today I drive very fast!
32. WILKS / PUGH
For the first time this weekend, I think I’m going to back off. I was a bit on the back foot at the beginning but it’s been a good rally.
